Shildon Town Council’s Community Development Worker, Charlotte Battison, recently supported the Jubilee Fields Community Litter Pick as part of the half-term activities for children.
The event included a special visit from Tidy Ted, who helped teach the children how to keep their environment clean and explained what items are safe to pick up.
Charlotte said: “The young people were extremely positive and showed great pride in caring for their town, filling six bags of rubbish around the Jubilee Estate and the train station.
“Thank you to Lauren and Tidy Ted from the County Durham Civic Pride team for supporting the event and the staff at Jubilee Fields for helping coordinate things.
“A big thank you also goes to Lloyd from Fire Parts for the generous donation of safety gloves, which the children were able to take home. The gloves helped keep their hands protected while they collected litter.
“Thank you to everyone involved. The children had a great time being out in the Community and were happy to receive an Easter egg for their hard work.”
