Lucy Owen from Shildon represented Spectrum Roller Skating Academy in Dance Youth-Senior British Championships held on Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July and came 5th in Youth Ladies British Championships.

For over 50 years, Mrs Maureen McKimm has worked at St. John’s Primary School as a cleaner, and later, as school caretaker. After many years of service, Maureen has finally retired from working at the school.

Members of the Knuckle Eddz Brotherhood came together to make a young girl’s Year 6 leavers’ prom a day to remember.

Five members of Spectrum Roller Skating Academy recently attended Figure, Free, Pairs & Inline British Championships held on Friday 10, Saturday 11 & 12 Sunday July and came home with six British Champion titles and two Vice Champion titles!

Two decades ago it opened as a Sure Start nursery for the working families of Shildon. This week, balloons, bunting and a teddy bears' picnic marked the occasion. Shildon Early Years, run by Durham County Council on Byerley Road, celebrated 20 years of caring for the town's children.

Shildon Town Council has been working to improve local facilities, with Hackworth Park being a key focus. As part of this work, the bridge over the beck in Hackworth Park, which is widely used by residents and visitors, has recently undergone significant improvement.

Since Pam's diagnosis more than three years have passed. She came a long way with boxing as her new old companion.
