Shildon Town Bowling has had a good season, albeit we finished in the lower half of the leagues, but we gained several new members which have quickly improved and helped make team selection less of a problem, reports Harry Brown.
Club competitions have been very successful this season with the fine weather promoting good, competitive bowls.
This year’s Club Champion, by winning the Tom Storey Trophy (4 wood singles) was Paul Cole, successfully beating Arnie Miller in the final.
Other club competitions played during the season were:
K Bennet Memorial Trophy (3 wood singles). Winner: Paul Cole
R Dunn Memorial Trophy (Pairs). Winners: Paul Cole & Brian Watson.
Two Wood Trophy (Singles). Winner: Arnie Miller.
Club Monthly Competition (Saturday) winners were:
May 10th – Dickinson Memorial Trophy (Pairs): Barbara Hall & Selwyn Jenkin.
June 7th – Les Wilson Trophy (Singles): Harry Brown.
July 5th – Wilson & Vest Trophy (Pairs): Jean Burton & Neville Plews.
August 2nd – Pat Lee Trophy (Pairs): Steve Atkinson & Brian Watson.
