The annual Shildon Remembrance parades will take place over the Remembrance weekend of Saturday 11 November at New Shildon, with the main parade on Sunday 12 November along Church Street.
On Saturday, a short service will take place at the War Memorial in Redworth Road, opposite the Railway Institute.
Please assemble at 10.45am for the short parade to the War Memorial followed by the service.
Church Street and part of Main Street will be closed to traffic from 10.30am on Sunday.
The parade will commence down Church Street at 10.45am to arrive at the War Memorial for a two-minute silence at 11am.
Following consultation and meetings, the order of parade will be:
Clergy,
Standard Bearers,
MP,
Town Council representative,
Veterans,
Servicemen,
Civic Dignitaries including both Shildon Town Council and Durham County Council Councillors,
Uniformed Services (Police, Fire Service etc.)
followed by local groups and organisations.
Members of the public are invited to assemble outside Shildon Alive on Church Street.
It has also been decided to continue with the parade after the Service and there will a march past a Dias towards the Civic Hall where nominated persons will take a salute.
Free tea and coffee will be available at the Shildon Civic Hall after the Service and Parade.
Wreaths must be collected from the Town Council Offices, Civic Hall Square, Shildon by noon on Friday, 10 November. Cheques should be made payable to Royal British Legion.
