The Shildon Poppy Badge appeal is in its sixth year, with the badge being designed locally every year by Mark Arnott. The badges are £3 each and all profits go to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
“I am constantly overwhelmed at the enthusiasm and response of the Shildon community and surrounding areas,” said Mark. “This is the sixth year of the Shildon charity poppy appeal badge, or the seventh when you include the commemorative VE Day badge.
“We are also extremely grateful to those who no longer live in Shildon but still buy the badges each year. We also post them nationwide and international every year as far as Scotland, Canada and Australia. If you would like yours posting, please let us know.
“This year we are celebrating and giving respect to our amazing Shildon War Memorial on the 100th anniversary of its unveiling on 13th October 1923 – definitely worth celebrating.”
