Residents crowded in to Shildon’s Hackworth Park this week to enjoy the return of the Big Brass Bash. Performing on Tuesday night were Artistas Del Gremio, Mr Wilsons, Girlesque, Dat Brass/Fat Brass and Back Chat Brass.

The Big Brass Bash continues throughout the week in communities across County Durham before the Brass Festival move on to Streets of Brass in Durham City centre from 11am until 4.50pm on Saturday, before moving to the Party in the Park at Wharton Park from 5.30 until 9.30pm. Shildon’s Big Brass Bash was funded by County Councillors Samantha Townsend, Matt Johnson and Shirley Quinn.

Posting on her official Twitter account, Cllr Townsend said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the brass bash in Hackworth Park tonight. In these difficult times it warms our hearts to see families dancing in the rain. Like many of you we were disappointed we didn’t get a brass bash last year, this year we made sure we were first in line and funded it with our neighbourhood budget to make sure we didn’t miss out again.”
