Members of staff at Redworth House in Shildon, which is part of the Bondcare Group, along with residents and their relatives, put their best foot forward for a sponsored walk around the local area recently.
The group raised more than £450, which will be put towards extra treats for the residents, such as additional day trips out.
The walk was followed by an awards ceremony at the home, during which participants were given medals and certificates for taking part in the fundraiser.
Based on Byerley Road, Redworth House is a purpose-built care home that provides care for 57 residents.
The home predominantly offers nursing and residential care for elderly residents with dementia, but has a third unit on site that accommodates six residents with learning disabilities.
Redworth House aims to maintain lifestyles as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home, with an extensive range of activities which individuals can enjoy and benefit from.
Joan McNeil, Manager at Redworth House, said, “We like to go the extra mile for our residents and we really did during the sponsored walk. We were very lucky with the weather and everyone enjoyed a trip out in the fresh air and sunshine.
“The sponsored walk was fantastic as it involved many of our residents and their relatives while raising funds, which will be put to great use.”
