Settle into 2025 with Tai-Chi

As 2025 looms many of us will be preparing to ready ourselves for the year ahead, writes Acting Warden of Spennymoor Settlement, Malcolm Marsen.

The ancient Chinese discipline of Tai Chi, can have a variety of benefits on the body and the mind. These can include improved posture, flexibility and balance, it can help to speed up recovery from illness, injury or surgery. It is also known to aid sound sleep, promote energy levels and help to manage stress.

Others experience boosted immunity, lower blood pressure, helping in the prevention of strokes and heart disease and to counter the effects of ageing.

Classes in Tai Chi have been running for some years at Spennymoor Settlement’s Everyman Theatre, on O’Hanlan Street, off King Street, under the direction of Mike our qualified instructor.

A small number of spaces have become available on Wednesdays from 12.15pm until 1.15pm at a cost of £5 per session.

These classes include breathing exercises, posture testing, step by step instruction at your pace, body age alignment, basic self-defence applications, and Chi Kung footwork.

To join the class, contact Gerard Robinson on 07713 105515 to reserve your place, or just pop along and give it a try.
