Ferryhill’s scouts have been enjoying a warm and cosy feeling after their scout hall heating system was refurbished. Durham County Councillor, Peter Atkinson used funds from his DCC Neighbourhood Budget to help update the ageing system.
Cllr Atkinson said: “I was delighted to help out our 1st Ferryhill Scout troop with the refurbishment of their heating system.
“Our scouts have been present in Ferryhill for many years and have supported our community in many ways throughout that time.”
A spokesperson for the scouts said: “We are very grateful to Cllr Atkinson for the generous donation which now means each of our sections can continue to offer the best scouting activities in a warm environment for many years to come, without having to rely on the very old, noisy, inefficient and expensive system which at the best of times was very temperamental.”
The Scout group currently offers a variety of activities for Beavers (boys and girls aged 6-8 years), Cubs (aged 8-10.5 years) and Scouts aged (10.5-14 years).
