Each Explorer Scout Young Leader (to give them their full title), pledged to uphold the Scout Law and Promise at a simple ceremony held at the Scout Hall recently.
They were then presented with their distinctive neckers from Group Scout Leader Malcolm Turnbull. After the ceremony, Malcolm said: “It was a proud moment for the team of adult volunteers to see the young people making their promise and becoming part of the Scouting family.
“We are excited to see them grow and develop through this worthwhile programme. They will work alongside our adult leaders in the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections”.
The Young Leader Scheme provides fantastic opportunities for youth members aged 14-18 to develop leadership skills and a range of other transferrable skills whilst having fun.
Malcolm also said that the group would like to thank Councillor Sue Jones for her donation from the Members Initiative Fund, which has helped towards the cost of the residential training weekend for the Young Leaders.
