Saint John’s Youthy took to the road on Saturday 20th February, heading up to Durham City for a range of new experiences.
Visiting Saint John’s College on the Old Bailey, 22 young people met three of the students studying for ordination as well as having the opportunity to see university facilities first hand.
The Lego cathedral was the next stop followed by a whistle stop tour of the real cathedral.
The day was a special day for Durham city as a series of ‘Ice and Fire’ sculptures were arrayed around the city.
The young people were fascinated by ice renditions of penguins, killer whales, and more.
No visit to a city is ever complete without some shopping time so the last couple of hours were spent browsing and buying in the shops and market.
Reverend David Tomlinson commented: “Giving young people new experiences builds their confidence and their understanding of the bigger world.
“This in turns enables aspirations to be realised, and abundant life to be enjoyed as they grow.”
