Royal British Legion’s Poppy Launch Evening

John Waller with branch president Dave Gargett.

Last Friday saw the successful launch of the Poppy Appeal by the Shildon Branch of the Royal British Legion.

The event took place at Shildon Railway Institute and included a military themed quiz, karaoke and music.

Veteran John Waller, who served in Korea, was the first to take a poppy.

Thanks are extended to all those who came and supported the evening by attending, purchasing raffle tickets and donating to the poppy appeal fund.

A reminder that anyone can join the Royal British Legion and the branch meet on the second Tuesday of each month in the lounge of the Railway Institute from 8pm. All are welcome.
