Ferryhill Town Council will be holding a Remembrance Sunday Parade, church service and wreath laying ceremony on Sunday 12th November, and all residents of Ferryhill are invited to attend. The programme of events is as follows:
09.30am – Parade gathers in Market Place Car Park*;
09.45am – Parade leaves for St Luke’s Church;
10.00am – Service;
10.50am – Leaves church and marches to the Cenotaph;
11.00am – Service, wreath laying and Last Post.
*In the event of wet weather, the parade will gather inside the Church Hall.
If any groups, clubs or societies not presently involved in the Remembrance Sunday Parade wish to take part then contact the Town Hall on 01740 652157 as soon as possible.
To coincide with Remembrance Sunday, the Heritage Centre at Duncombe Cemetery will be open to members of the public from 10am to 2.30pm.
The history of Ferryhill and the surrounding area will be on display with members of the History Society being available to help and advise visitors to the centre.
Free admission and refreshments are available through- out the event.
Meanwhile, residents of Chilton are advised that the dedicated flag will be raised outside the Town Council office on Saturday 11th November at 11am, and everyone is welcome to go along.
The annual Remembrance Sunday service will be held on Sunday 12th November at St Aidan’s Church, com- mencing at 10am and will be conducted by Reverend Keith Lumsdon.
Peter Cook, Deputy Lord Lieutenant has confirmed his attendance and Bishops Pipers have agreed to perform.
Afterwards there will be a parade down to the Cenotaph where there will be another service and laying of the wreaths. A road closure will be in effect. “Special thanks to everyone who is participating & helping with the events,” said a spokesperson for Chilton Town Council.
