Shildon Railway Cricket Club’s first team remain clear at the top of Division 3 of the Darlington Building Society North Yorkshire and South Durham Premiere Cricket League after another convincing win.
Visitors, Maltby, were no match for the Shildon side who batted first, with a view to gaining maximum points and avoiding the rain forecast for later in the day.
Skipper Greg Upton led the way with 80, which included sixteen fours and he was ably supported by Stewart Henderson’s patient 30, taking the total to 224 for 7 from 41 overs.
Bret Upton then ensured the win with 5 for 23 as Maltby crumbled to 107 all out.
This week saw the Under 15s at Etherley on Monday evening and the 1st team at Thornaby on Saturday.
The 2nd team is again without a game but recommence their league programme on 28th June and have a full schedule up until 20th September.
The club was pleased to accept a new sponsorship deal with Abrahams Vehicle Services and their sponsorship board is prominently displayed at the ground.
“We are extremely pleased to have another local firm on board and every little bit helps us to meet ever increasing expenses,” said a club spokesman.
