Following on from their recent success in Division 4 of the British Water Polo League, Sedgefield Water Polo Club men’s team travelled to Haberdasher Aske’s Boys School in Watford recently to participate in the playoffs, aiming for promotion into Division 3.
The league is self-funded by the players and their first game was against Worthing, which they drew 7-7. This was followed by two wins; 24-8 against British Army and 16-7 over Bridgefield, meaning the team came top of the group and have now secured promotion.
Following on from back-to-back promotions, the team is now looking for sponsorship for the 2023/2024 season. “If any local businesses would like to offer support, the team would be delighted to hear from you,” said a spokesperson. In addition to Junior and Senior sessions, Sedgefield Water Polo Club now offers a beginner session on Saturday afternoons for anyone wishing to try out the sport. All sessions need to be booked in advance, so check the website for further information and joining instructions.
