Following a short closure for refurbishment, Shildon People’s Centre on Main Street has now re-opened for normal business.
Did you know that the People’s Centre runs a café with a difference?
The café provides a hot, nourishing meal every day for those who may be lonely or live on their own and would like to chat with friendly folk in a warm and welcoming place. There are even newspapers available to read.
The lunches are different every day and include chicken casserole, mince and dumplings, fish, gammon, and liver and onions. Prices are very reasonable; main courses are £3 and desserts are available for just £1. The café is open from 8.30am for breakfast, and lunch is served between 11.30am and 12 noon Monday to Friday inclusive.
A spokesperson commented, “Why not pop in and say hello? You can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.”
