Middridge History Society’s new season of talks is set to get underway again next month with the excellent speaker, Alastair Fraser, giving a talk entitled The Emperor’s Tiles, The Missing Lances and the eye wateringly expensive Sea Snails – A Somewhat Haphazard History of Roman Carlisle.
This talk is a general history of Roman Carlisle as far as can be currently determined.
It also looks at the new excavations on the north bank of the Eden, involving the largest building ever found on Hadrian’s Wall.
Who built it? Who lived in it? What was it for?
All are welcome to this opening talk of the new season on Thursday 10 October at 7.30pm Middridge Village Hall.
Admission is just £3 and includes refreshments.
