At the meeting of Bishop Auckland Town Council on Tuesday 24 June, the council considered the applications it had received for two town councillor vacancies, one in the Henknowle Ward and one in the Woodhouse Close Ward.
Candidates were invited to the meeting to present to the council why they felt that they would be suitable for the position, and why they wished to represent the residents of these wards.
Following the presentations and questions, Mr D Wilkinson for Henknowle Ward and Mr A Legge for Woodhouse Close Ward were offered the positions, and both accepted.
Both candidates have now signed the formal ‘Declaration of Acceptance of Office’ with the Town Clerk and they will both be invited to attend the July Town Council, and future meetings as co-opted councillors to represent their respective wards.
