MP Encourages Residents to ‘Shop Local’

Dr Sam Rushworth MP is encouraging residents across the Bishop Auckland constituency to celebrate and support independent businesses ahead of Small Business Saturday on 6th December, recognising the contribution of local entrepreneurs.

The MP has created a survey on his website, www.samrushworth.co.uk, for residents to share recommendations of local businesses and this feedback will be spread across social media platforms to support as many businesses as possible.

Sam Rushworth MP said: “Small Business Saturday – which takes place the first Saturday in December each year – is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all the wonderful local businesses that serve our community.

“We’re spoiled across our constituency with so many independent shops, cafés, makers, and services, so this is a day to shine a light on them, say thank you, and shop local!

“I’m encouraging everyone to take part in my survey, share their favourite local spots, and help spread the word. It’s been brilliant to see the many responses I’ve had so far!

“I’ll be visiting and writing to many businesses, showcasing recommendations from our community across social media, and celebrating the brilliant people who keep our local economy thriving, provide jobs, and offer unforgettable experiences.”
