Mixed results for Croquet club

Auckland Chilton Croquet played two games last week, reports Richard Peck.

The first was a trip up to play the Alnmouth Blues on Wednesday where ACC went down to an 11-7 defeat.

Saturday brought a change of fortune with the home match against Bamburgh ending in a nail-biting finish in favour of ACC by 9.5 to 8.5 pts.

Now it’s back to practising before the next league match, at home to Backworth on 12 July.

If you would like to give croquet a try, why not come down and have a go for free. We are located at the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground at Chilton, behind the Jet petrol station on the A167. There’s no age limit and all equipment use and coaching is free.

We’re usually there on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons from 2pm until 4-4.30-ish, enjoying fresh air, light exercise and friendly competition.

All you need are flat shoes, a waterproof jacket and hood/hat (just in case).

Further information can be obtained by calling myself on 07801 190896 or Jane Pringle on 07860 203576.
