Shildon Woman Turns Illness Into Inspiration

At just 26 years old, Abbie Griffiths from Shildon has shown that determination and passion can shine through even the toughest challenges. Since being diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) in July 2023, she has faced daily battles with her health — but that hasn’t stopped her from chasing her dreams.

While unwell, Abbie discovered a new passion for make-up artistry and turned it into a thriving career. Her hard work and talent recently earned her national recognition at the prestigious Glamour Awards, held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on 12th October 2025. Nominated in two categories, she proudly took home first place for the Best Full Glam Award.

Now she hopes her journey will inspire others living with chronic illness or hidden disabilities to keep going and never give up on their goals.

She says: “Your condition doesn’t define your potential – never stop believing and never give up on your dreams.”
