
With the opening dozen league games away from home, Shildon AFC’s promotion campaign got off to an inauspicious start as the Railwaymen shared the spoils in a goalless draw at Carlisle City, reports Wilf Tray.
Shildon struggled to create throughout and only made a handful of chances, none of which were taken and it was the hosts who almost grabbed all three points when a late free kick crashed against the bar.
Shildon face Newcastle Blue Star as the Crier goes to press before hosting Ashington at Consett in the FA Cup on Saturday.
