Members of Ferryhill’s The Right Thing Litter Picking Project have expressed their thanks to Gareth and Gemma from Durham County Council Civic Pride Team for delivering an informative Health and Safety Session to the young people who have volunteered.
Glenys from Approach Too, who helped set up the project said: “Thank you to all the amazing young people and adults who attended the Health and Safety session. These young people now have experience of designing and delivering a community project, filling in job application forms, attending informal interviews, health and safety training and are learning invaluable skills such as communication and team work, all of which will help them when they apply for college or work. And best of all, we get a cleaner and safer community.
“Also a massive thank you to Louise and Andy from Livin for their continued support and expertise, Ferryhill Town Council and the talented Mr Chris Orton. The next step in the project is allocating areas and carrying out risk assessments, then we will be up and running later this month.”
