Dear Editor,

After being introduced to MacMillan Cancer Support, I felt I should give them the same support that they would give to myself, or anyone who would come to the stage in life when they need the support they offer.

I could just post them a few quid, which, in itself is very supportive, but I really want to do something a little bit more positive.

So, I shall be hosting a MacMillan coffee morning, on Friday 26th of September, in Ferryhill Methodist Church, which is at the back of Ferryhill Town Council offices.

The ladies of the church, who I met with recently could not have been more supportive with my event, considering that the day before, I didn’t have a clue how to get the coffee morning moving.

There will be homemade pies, cakes, sandwiches and other sweet treats. Tea and coffee will be served from their kitchen in conjunction with their own coffee morning. Also, a tombola stall, ‘Guess how many Pennies in a Big Bottle’, a very funny yes/no interlude (for those who can remember it), children’s Beatrix Potter books, and other stalls.

So, pop along on the day and give MacMillan your support.

Yours sincerely,
Edwin McLay, by email.
