For their 4th friendly match of the pre-season, Ferryhill Athletic travelled down to Middlesbrough to play Kader FC from the Teesside Alliance league and won 2-1, reports Fraser Reynolds.
The Latics settled very quickly and moved the ball around really well, only to be thwarted by the home keeper Adam Claxton who was in sparkling form. However, in the 35th minute he could only parry a shot from Morland and Kieron Richardson was on hand to fire home the opener.
The second half saw Ferryhill once again in control, but against the run of play, Kader found themselves on level terms following a defensive mix-up resulting in an own goal. This spurred the home side on and they were briefly on top before the Latics settled down again creating several good chances before man of the moment, Richardson got the winner with his 10th goal in four matches.
This was a good test for Ferryhill and they are next in action on Saturday when they entertain Sunderland RA Reserves at King George V Playing fields kick off 2pm.
