Bishop Auckland based rugby team, Durham Tigers under 17’s, commenced their preseason fixture programme by taking a short trip to Framwellgate Moor to play a strong Durham Demons side.
The game started competitively with Tigers defending well against Demons early pressure.
In the 6th minute, Tigers put together a great move for Jamie Love to open the scoring with a well-worked try. Tigers then took control and ran in another 22 points without reply to make the half time score Demons 0 Tigers 30.
Although Demons are in the middle of there North East League season, it was Tigers who looked both sharper and fitter.
Tigers made several changes for the second half and continued to dominate. They ended up winning by a very comfortable 68 points to 14.
Tigers continue their preseason fixtures by travelling to Lancashire on Saturday, August 22nd, to take part in the prestigious Leyland Cup.
The Durham Tigers play their home fixtures at Bishop Auckland’s St. John’s school and most of their players come from the town.
