Ferryhill LADDER Centre, who recently attended a cheque presentation at Ferryhill Town Hall, have joined the list of beneficiaries of Ferryhill Town Council’s Members Initiative Fund.
Councillor Stephen Bowron was on hand to present a cheque for £250 to the centre’s Kath Merrington from his MIF allocation.
Ferryhill Ladder Centre provides an invaluable service for the community, providing free support and guidance on a wide range of issues including employment opportunities, access to training and benefits advice.
The centre also offers free access to IT services and hosts youth groups and several social activity groups aimed at tackling social isolation, access to sporting activities and improving mental health.
The centre is also a referral point for the town’s Foodbank and an access point for the NE First Credit Union.
The funds will be specifically used to purchase resources for the centre’s weekly Craft & Chat group, enabling its activities to grow.
Councillor Bowron said: “I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile project.
“Ferryhill LADDER Centre continue to support the community of Ferryhill in numerous ways, and I am only too pleased, to be able to contribute funds for their Craft and Chat group, which meets from 10am to 12 noon every Monday.”
