The ‘Knit and Knatter’ group, a Saint John’s Church project, has joined forces with ‘Woolies @Foundations’ to work collaboratively on a community project which has been supported by The Shildon Chamber of Trade.
The groups have had met, to discuss the project and all those involved are committed to creating something really special.
Chris Bowman, chair of Shildon Chamber of Trade, which represents local businesses said: “I would like to thank all the members of both groups for their commitment to this piece of work. It is great to see what happens when local people come together to achieve an aim.
“We would also like to thank those individuals who have already made kind donations of wool via the Town Council.
“We would also like to thank Thomas B Ramsden & Co, one of the North’s last family-owned manufactures of British wool, for their kind donation towards the project.”
A spokesperson from Knit & Knatter, Pat Todd said: “We would like to thank all those generous local residents who have kindly donated wool for this project.
“We have now collected enough wool for the purpose of this project and have been overwhelmed by the positive response.”
If you would like to get involved in knitting or crocheting, the ‘Knit and Knatter’’ group hold fortnightly sessions on Wednesdays at 1.30pm in St John’s Church, Church Street.
