Knitters keeping Shildon warm

Shildon’s talented knitters have been donating warm woolies for Shildon Town Council’s #ShildonCanKnit campaign.

Shildon knitters have been donating beautiful new handmade knitted items to Shildon Town Council as part of its #ShildonCanKnit campaign.

A spokesperson said: “Huge thank you to all of the talented knitters in Shildon and surrounding areas.

“The donations are available to vulnerable people, so whether you have a neighbour who may need a little extra warmth on these cold evenings or a family member, please feel free to call in and collect one.

“We are also delighted to continue to receive donations that help us to keep people warm in the cold winter days.”

Shildon Town Council also organises a Winter Coat Appeal in partnership with Shildon Alive and Jubilee Fields Community Centre.

If you have a preloved winter coat you no longer need, you can give it a new life by donating it to Shildon families in need this winter.

The scheme also helps to save coats being needlessly put into landfill.

Donations of laundered coats can be left at any of the venues when they are open.
