Kirk Merrington Community Centre paid tribute to its housekeeper and booking clerk, Carole Irving recently, on the occasion of her retirement after many years of dedication to the centre.
Carole has been the backbone of the committee who wanted to let her know how much she means to them all. The community celebrated her retirement with a lovely evening of entertainment, where her family and many friends turned up to show their thanks. She was presented with a bouquet from the committee and from Spennymoor Town Council, while also receiving lots of cards, presents and best wishes.
Carole had a lovely evening and was visibly moved by the affection shown to her and thanked everyone for going along. She intends to spend more time taking holidays with her friend Bill and simply enjoying their time together.
