The Town’s Horticultural Show made a welcome return at the beginning of September. Gardening enthusiasts, amateur horticulturalists and entrants to other categories gathered in the Town Hall’s Main Hall to display their impressive produce to visitors and other competitors.
The move to the Main Hall from Jubilee Park did not dampen spirits and proved a popular choice with attendees and competition enthusiasts. With more children’s entries than in previous years, the benches were overflowing with some incredible fruit, vegetables, flowers and all manner of entries to the array of competition categories.
Town Mayor, Cllr Ian Geldard, admitted to having an incredibly tough job judging the contenders. He praised the exceptional standard of overall competition, adding: “I’m thrilled to see the amount of entries in this year’s competition – the levels achieved are fantastic and prove we’re a town of green-fingered experts. It has proven to be as popular as ever and judging has been a really difficult task”.
Prize money will be distributed from the Town Hall reception, and the full list of winning entries can be found on the Town Council’s website and Facebook page.
