Shildon Railway Cricket Club claimed its first silverware since 2015 when the Ken Welsh Cup was won in style in front of a good crowd at their own Hackworth Road Ground.
Shildon, who had overcome local rivals Bishop Auckland in a thrilling semi-final, won the toss and put opponents Whitby into bat.
In glorious evening sunshine, the Seasiders made a good start, as each of their top six batsmen reached double figures and the score progressed steadily at above seven runs per over.
What was more worrying for an already below full strength Shildon, was that skipper Tom Wickins was forced to leave the field after injuring his hand whilst fielding, and then opening bowler Phil Garbutt was forced off with a back injury, having taken 2 for 24 in his four overs.
Whitby had set a challenging total of 153 for 5 in their 20 overs and looked favourites to win.
In reply, the Railwaymen set off like a train.
Ellis Horner struck three huge sixes in a quick-fire 22 and Matthew Brown bludgeoned 24 runs, as the home side thrilled the crowd and raced into a winning position.
Greg Upton oozed class in his man of the match winning performance, scoring 53.
Victory came in the 15th over, as Shildon blazed their way to 154 for 5 in rapid fashion before celebrating their achievement with a jubilant home crowd.
