Just 150 Voted for Hospital Changes

According to recent figures from the Health Trust, fewer than 150 people in the town supported the decision to remove Bishop Auckland’s Accident and Emergency Unit.

Over 16,000 local residents objected the proposals, although the County Durham and Darlington Trust claimed that the majority of the town supported the plans.

However, they came to this conclusion from the results of a questionnaire in which leaving things as they are was not an option.

The hospital will now become a centre for planned surgery and rehabilitation.
