This year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Ready, Set, Read runs during the school holidays. Anyone completing the challenge to read six books during the holidays will receive a medal and certificate.
The library will also be hosting events and crafts for children of all ages. They get underway on Friday 28 July when author and illustrator Liz Million will be visiting at 1.30pm.
There will be a Bag Making craft session on Tuesday 1 August and the following week, on 8 August, will provide an opportunity to Make a Pen/Pencil Holder.
Thursday 17 August will be a Games Afternoon and on Thursday 24 August, visitors will be able to Make a Memory Book. The final session on Thursday 31 August will be A Day at the Races.
All sessions, excepting Liz Million’s visit, will take place at 2pm. Places are limited and booking is essential. For more information, call in to Shildon library or call 03000 269526.
