Please welcome this year’s young people from Ferryhill’s The Right Thing Litter Picking project.
Last week, young litter pickers met Glenys from Approach Too, Andy from Livin and Gail and Emma from Civic Pride Durham County Council to pick up their litter picking equipment, sort out their routes and receive their health and safety training.
Glenys said “It’s fantastic that so many young people want to make a difference and improve the area where they live. Massive thanks go to Livin and Civic Pride Durham County Council for their continuing support too.
“The project aims to give young people experience of a job application and safety training, while also giving them work experience to enhance their CVs for future employment or college courses.
“The project also sees the young people earning an allowance and just as importantly, our community is made cleaner and safer. This year the young litter pickers are covering areas around Ferryhill Station, The Broom, Dean Bank, Cleves Cross, and the Lakes Estate.”
