After years of steady decline, Saint John’s Church choir was reborn on Sunday 21st July.
The membership of the choir had dropped to three; practices had long since come to an end, and those faithful few remaining spoke wistfully about the days when a full choir had inspired the congregation of Saint John’s with their talent.
Thanks to the encouragement of Daniel Coates, choir master and organist, an influx of new members, all looking smart in their new robes, have begun to sing.
On their first Sunday the congregation broke into applause as the choir processed out at the end of the service.
Revd. David commented that “music has always being a big part of the life of Saint John’s and it is lovely to see such enthusiasm and growth in the life of the church.”
As tea and coffee were enjoyed at the end of the service, two more people approached Daniel asking to join and were invited to rehearsals.
