Work is ongoing at Cheapside end of Festival Walk, including reoccupation of a business premises and removal of weathered screening near the old library.
The Find and Fix Team will undertake more environment improvement work in Tudhoe Division, following their successful work in Spennymoor.
The Community Action Team have identified further issues around Craddock Street, which are being addressed.
A speed visor will be installed on Oxford Road this week, paid for with my Neighbourhood funding.
Vandalism on advertising panels of recently replaced bus shelters and the front window of the Nail Bar on Festival Walk is being investigated by the police. The DCC Safer Communities Group is discussing interventions to prevent such antisocial behaviour.
Coping stones from the market area walls have been removed and replacements ordered.
Potholes on the rear Festival Walk car park have been reported to Hellens Group.
New birdsmouth fencing has been installed across the town and broken fencing on Wood View replaced.
Recent heavy rainfall caused flooding in several areas, which was quickly addressed.
The Drainage Team attended further flooding incidents at Byers Green and identified a broken pipe. Regular maintenance checks have been increased to prevent silting up of drainage channels. Blocked and sunken drains have been reported.
The Flytipping Team revisited several areas known for waste dumping. New flytipping was reported and quickly removed by DCC and Livin where appropriate.
A male from Hetton le Hole received two Fixed Penalty Notices for Waste Carriers offences on the A688 outside of Spennymoor. Always ensure private carriers are registered and hold a Waste Carriers Licence.
Concerns about parking issues at road junctions have led to Road Traffic Orders being identified for several locations including: Rock Road – junction to SRS Recovery; South View junction to Rock Road, Mulberry Drive – extension of lines at junction; Villiers Street, extension of lines on one side at junction to Oxford Road; Ghent Street and Wilkinson Street – both Byers Green; also for parking restriction marking in front of St Charles Primary School and at the new Springmoor Grange – both Durham Road; Hay Lane and finally the parking area behind Wetherspoons to introduce ‘disabled badge holders only’, maximum stay 2 hours.
Eight businesses in Spennymoor are applying for supported business front improvements. Another request has been forwarded to the Regeneration Team. Please get in touch if you need help or approach us on our regular walkabouts.
