We have hit April, spring is here, it is lighter for longer and (hopefully!) warmer. A perfect time to get out, meet people and maybe learn a new skill or even get fitter.
Have you thought about joining a walking, fitness, or craft group? Or maybe just popping in to a regular coffee morning for a chat?
Chilton has a great sense of community and there a number of local organisations that run social groups and events, they will always give you a warm welcome, coffee and possibly a biscuit.
A few suggestions include:
The Women’s Social and Craft Group which meets at 10am every Thursday and the Friday Walking Group (both from Hutton House).
There is a regular Wednesday Coffee Morning at the Chilton Sports & Social Club and St Aidan’s Church has a Monday craft group.
Chilton library runs an under 5s ‘Story time and Song’ session on Monday afternoons, which is also great fun for parents, grandparents and carers and, if you fancy something more energetic, there is always the Croquet Club and Chilton Club FC is looking for new talent!
There is documented evidence that connecting with others, being active and learning new things is good for our mental health and wellbeing.
Health care practitioners, GPs and nurses now make referrals to community activities through social prescribing as a holistic approach to the management of long-term health conditions.
So why not take the first step, spring into action and join one of Chilton’s local community groups.
