Bishop Auckland Hospital has recently obtained a new CT scanner, thanks to investment from County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust.
It is hoped that the £400,000 piece of equipment will help to reduce waiting times for patients. The scanner will diagnose things such as aneurysms, tumours and abscesses, as well as bleeding on the brain.
Radiologist Dr Peter Orr commented, “The new scanner produces images in much finer detail which makes diagnosis much more certain and more accurate.
“It brings us up to date with the latest technology and enables us to now do a much wider range of examinations, for example a CT of the urinary tract, which we couldn’t do previously.”
