Hospital parking fees rise by 150%

Bosses at Bishop Auckland Hospital have defended increasing parking fees by 150% by stating that the fees have not risen for six years.

Although people visiting the hospital currently pay £1 to park, they will now face a charge of £2.50 for up to two hours.

The rise has been condemned as a tax on illness by residents, with Councillor Sam Zair branding the decision as disgraceful, saying, “Once again, the poorly and sick people have been victimised by the trust.”
