Have your say on Dean Bank play equipment

The old play equipment at Dean Bank is outdated and in need of replacement. Consultations at various venues will take place on proposed designs from 19-24 August.

Thanks to £90,000 grant funding secured from the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund via the Derbyshire Environmental Trust (DET), Ferryhill Town Council has announced that tenders have been sought from professional play companies, with a view to all existing junior play equipment at the park being replaced in the autumn.

Additional equipment aimed at teenagers is also being installed on the area of land where the old bowls pavilion was recently demolished.

The play area, which has received little in the way of investment for over ten years, has become worn and outdated and is now desperately in need of refurbishment.

Designs submitted by play companies as part of the tender process will be placed on display for residents to go along and have their say at various venues on the following dates:
Dean Bank & Ferryhill Literary Institute: Tuesday, 19, August, 2pm – 4pm and 5.30pm – 7.30pm;
Ferryhill Town Hall on Wednesday, 20 August 10am – 12 noon and Thursday 21 August, 2pm – 4pm;
Dean Bank Park Football Pavilion, 4.30pm – 7.30pm on Friday, 22 August; 12 noon – 4pm on Saturday, 23 August and 9am – 4pm on Sunday, 24 August.

Mayor, Councillor Angus Ferguson said: “This project is great news for our local young people.

“The new equipment will transform the old play area, giving it a new lease of life and making it much more inclusive.

“The project will also see the development of a new designated teenage area.

“A big thank you to DET and the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund for awarding the funding that will enable this project to be delivered.

“The new equipment will benefit local children for years to come.”
