Gig for Phil tickets on sale

Phil Stephenson
Gig for Phil will commemorate popular Ferryhill man, Phil Stephenson, who lost his battle with cancer on 23 December 2012.

Gig for Phil, a charity music event, will take place at Ferryhill Sport and Education Centre later this year in memory of Philip Stephenson, a much loved and sorely missed member of the Ferryhill community.

Philip, or Phil, as he was better known, sadly lost a long battle with cancer on 23 December 2012.

He left behind a young family as well as his wife Lynsey, mother Lynn, father Colin, sister Nicola, brother-in-law Joe and countless friends and family members.

Phil was a committed, competitive and regular runner who had completed several Great North Run events and the London Marathon.

He was also a football fan, snowboarder and a lover of great music.

Gig for Phil

This year to mark ten years since his passing, his family have organised Gig for Phil, to take place on 23 December. Tickets, costing £15, are available online at eventbrite.

Lynsey said: “We wanted to do something positive to mark ten years since Phil’s death.

“Everyone is welcome. The gig is an opportunity for people to remember Phil, raise money for two amazing charities and enjoy what we hope will be a fantastic night. Plus, it’s right on your doorstep.

“Every penny received will be donated to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Brain Tumour Charity, both undertaking incredible research into the causes of and treatment for a variety of cancers.

“We hope Ferryhill will come together for what we hope will be a memorable evening.”
