Fundraising events at the Stute

The Hudson Sister and Soul Street will headline forthcoming fundraisers at Shildon Railway Institute.

Two fundraising events are taking place this March at Shildon Railway Institute, both having personal connections to members of the management committee at the ‘Stute’.

First up is a night to benefit Cancer Research UK, which will be held on Saturday 16th March from 7pm.

Club secretary, Kelly Ambrosini, lost a close friend last year to the disease, and a couple of weeks ago club chair, Dave Reynolds, lost his step-father to pancreatic cancer.

Both are keen to help raise as much money as possible, with ticket sale profits and the funds raised from the various games and events on the night benefitting the charity.

Supporting cancer fundraising initiatives offers hope for a better future where this devastating illness can be better understood, treated and prevented.

The following week – Saturday 23rd March – will see the annual Jimmy Dinning Memorial Show take place, this time with funds raised benefitting the Railway Institute itself.

Jimmy was a loyal member of the Institute before sadly passing away in 2021.

He cared deeply about the ‘Save our Stute’ campaign, and was passionate about promoting its story and preserving its heritage.

Jimmy’s partner and committee member, Polly Ord, has organised this event every year since Jimmy’s passing.

Tickets for both shows are on sale behind the bar at the Institute and are £7 each.

Comedy and singing duo The Hudson Sisters will be providing the entertainment on Saturday 16th March, and party band Soul Street will be performing on Saturday 23rd March.

Both evenings promise to deliver great entertainment, great fun and hopefully generous funds to both causes.
