A five mile walk was enjoyed in and around Croxdale Hall Estate by members of St. David’s, St. John’s, St. Bart’s and St. Peter’s churches, reports Anne Brandon.

We stopped along the way to share knowledge of the Grade 1 listed chapel which was a ‘chapel of ease’ to St Oswalds, Elvet until St. Bart’s was built in 1845.

Our walkers had lots of memories including tours of the Grade 1 listed hall, it’s use as a maternity hospital and visits to the walled garden.

Sue and her son Simon Marr have agreed to lead the next walk which will take place on Sunday, 18 May meeting at 2pm at Broompark Car park on the B6302 (the road from The Stonebridge pub to Ushaw Moor).

If anyone would like transport to and from the start, please phone Rev Barbara Hilton 01388 814093 or email barbara17hilton[@]yahoo[.]co[.]uk.
