The town’s annual food festival has grown so popular with visitors that it is set to become a two day event in 2013.
The Bishop Auckland Food Festival will take place on Saturday 20th April and Sunday 21st April, being held over two days for the first time in its 9 year history.
Kate James, Visit County Durham’s festivals and events manager said, “Bishop Auckland Food Festival is already an exceptionally popular event, attracting well in excess of 20,000 people over a single day.
“We’re now looking to take the event to the next level by developing the core offer, and would love to hear from producers and contemporary craft makers from the North East, Cumbria, Northumberland and Yorkshire who are interested in exhibiting.
“For food we’re particularly interested in provenance and products with a regional resonance, and with craft we’re looking for those artists who are creating something truly unique.
“The festival is all about highlighting the quality food and drink being served across the region and the mouth-watering selection of the finest regional and national produce.”
This year’s stalls included those selling artisan breads; charcuterie; organic wines; award winning cheese; seafood; meat and game.
