Monday (8 Sep): Officers conducted arrest attempts for a man which we are delighted to report were successful! The 46-year-old man was arrested for two public orders offences, assault and theft. He appeared at Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to the theft and was given a fine. He pleaded not guilty to the other offences and was bailed to Court for a date in January 2026.
Tuesday: Officers made significant progress into the investigation of a dog attack which occurred in Dean Bank, Ferryhill. After house to house enquires and trawling through CCTV, progress has been made, and investigation is still ongoing.
Officers also assisted in Spennymoor for a high-risk missing person, with the Ferryhill drone being deployed. After an extensive search, with the help of response, NPAS and mountain rescue the male was found safe and well.
Wednesday: PC Ditchburn assisted Peterlee officers with a warrant, which led to three XL bully dogs being seized. Back over in Ferryhill, PC McGuire interviewed a 17-year-old for shoplifting. He has since been referred to the youth offending team. PCSO Lavin attended the monthly Pub Watch meeting where four males received a 12-month exclusion order from all licensed premises in Ferryhill, Chilton and West Cornforth.
Friday: Officers continued their enquires for a burglary and fraud. This involved CCTV checks, house to house and assisting a vulnerable man to the bank to do the relevant checks to ensure his banking was secured.
Saturday: PCSO Walbey carried out enquires in West Cornforth over the recent anti-social behaviour incidents. Residents have been visited and spoken with to assist in the enquires and offered home security measures.
Sunday: A 20-year-old man was arrested for eight shoplifting offences which occurred at the Co-op, totalling over £300 worth of items. He has been interviewed and bailed to appear at Court on the 6th October 2025. PC Ditchburn also interviewed a 22-year-old man in connection with an assault and threatening behaviour which occurred on Hackworth Street, Ferryhill. He was eligible for, and, has since received a police caution for the offences.
In addition: a 47-year-old man was arrested and interviewed for a burglary which occurred on Stephenson Street, Ferryhill. The man admitted to the offence and has been bailed until the 3rd of November 2025 in order to obtain a CPS charging decision.
