Ferryhill Banner Group has said thank you to everyone who joined them for the unveiling of the iconic Dean and Chapter Miners’ Banner in it’s new home at the Dean Bank and Ferryhill Literary Institute during its recent coffee morning.
“It was wonderful to see so many there, sharing memories of the Durham Miners’ Gala,” said Peter Atkinson, “and reflecting on the important part our two local collieries played in supporting Ferryhill in years gone by.
“A big thank you to Chris Cairns and his team for providing the delicious cakes and coffee at the Dean Bank and Ferryhill Literary Institute – they were very much appreciated.
“We would also like to offer a special thank you to Durham Miners’ Association Executive Member, Steve Terrence, for his thoughtful and inspiring words on the importance of our mining banners and our mining heritage, and how they continue to play a vital role in our communities today.”
