Families enjoy cooking and eating together

woodhouseA group of churches in Bishop Auckland is supporting a new community project to encourage families to cook and eat a meal together.

Twelve adults and six children (plus one baby) enjoyed preparing, cooking and eating together after school. They soon shared out the jobs and triumphed by making a small starter and two main hot meal options before tucking into pudding.

The shared meal was held at Woodhouse Close Church Community Centre and was supported by the parish of St. Mary’s and St. Wilfred’s R.C. Churches in Bishop Auckland.

The diners also received a donation of muffins from a local supermarket which had been damaged in the packaging but were still delicious to eat!

The aim of the project is to run a low-cost monthly shared meal where local families can meet new people, learn some new cooking skills and encourage children and adults to eat a healthy and nutritious meal together at the table.

If you would like to attend, know a family who may enjoy going along, or just want to help, contact Fiona Ewing on 01388 606281.
