After three seasons with no adult side, Etherley Cricket Club is putting together a number of friendly social matches for the coming season.
John Raw from the club said, “We have got together with the NHS and Durham County Council as part of their ‘Move Into Sport’ programme, looking at the state of the county’s health, particularly diabetes and heart related issues, and realised the tremendous benefits sport can bring about. “Plus, we have a terrific junior section which has now grown to 55 youngsters and shows no sign of falling off. From that group there are quite a few dads who think they know a thing or two. So this spring we are going to be harnessing that idea. “At the same time, ‘Move Into Sport’ will be putting on a series of indoor coaching at Bishop Auckland College each Thursday evening. “At Etherley CC you need not think your sporting days are behind you, it is for the fun of it.”
