End-of-season presentation night

Bishop Auckland Football Club held its annual end-of-season presentation night at Heritage Park on Saturday 7th May.

For the first time it was a full club event as both reserves and ladies teams were present along with the first team.

The Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Cllr Lee Brownson, presented the various awards to the winners.

There is no doubting who stole the show as centre forward Andy Johnson claimed all the awards after a stunning season of goalscoring, finishing with an impressive 38 goals.

As well as rewarding Johnson’s talents with the ‘Supporter’s Player of the Year’, ‘Player of the Season’ and ‘Top Goalscorer’ awards, Andy is now also the proud owner of the Heritage Award.

The evening itself capped off a great season for the club, with the Two Blues finishing in 7th place in the Northern League having quickly improved on a variable first half of the season.

Rob Bowron, Director of Football at Bishop Auckland FC said: “We were honoured to have Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Lee Brownson as our guest for the evening and would like to extend our thanks to him for being with us.

“Lee himself has been an employee of the club in the past, and clearly understands what the football club means to the local community.

“The club would like to wish Lee all the best with future ventures when his tenure as Mayor finishes at the end of this month.”

Chairman Richard Tremewan added: “We would also like to thank all our volunteers for all the work that goes on behind the scenes in delivering football at each level.

“This was highlighted with a special award for ‘Volunteer of the Year’ going to Margaret Dixon for her continual catering efforts on match days.

“We hope that this evening marks the start of us developing as a club.

“We look forward to 2016/17 in anticipation!”

The list of award winners include: Top Goalscorer to Andy Johnson; Supporter’s Player to Andy Johnson; Heritage Award to Andy Johnson; Player of the Year to Andy Johnson; and Young Player of the Year to Craig Foster (in the reserve team).

In the ladies, team winners include: Top Scorer to Natasha Napier; Sportswoman of the Year to Tracy Priestley and Sam Moody; Special Recognition to Jill White; Player’s Player to Tracy Priestley and Toni Sidekick; Young Player to Lauren Morgans and Lauren Johnson; and Player of the Year to Leah Currie and Enya Clarke.
